Marcliffe Hotel, Aberdeen

Brindley Associates were appointed by Archial Architects on behalf of their client, to prepare a rebuttal to an objection from Aberdeen City Council for the proposed redevelopment of a luxury hotel site.

We initially undertook a tree survey of the hotel grounds and prepared a tree retention and management strategy for the site, which we combined with a sketch design for new areas of landscape to integrate the new buildings with the existing historic landscape.

Following this work we prepared a landscape appraisal of the proposed development, including the proposed new built structures and proposed tree planting to address potential landscape and visual concerns. Through successive design iterations of the building works and soft landscape strategy undertaken in association with Archial Architects and Cameron + Ross Engineers to address the concerns of the Council, we developed a historically appropriate landscape design which minimised the visual effects of the proposed development and retained the existing landscape character of the site.

We are delighted that the development has now been approved by Aberdeen City Council.
