Joanne Brindley
Managing Director Joanne Brindley is a Chartered Landscape Architect and leads the practice. She has over 20 years of professional experience including working for a private practice, a local planning authority and a national house builder. Her range of working experience gives her an insight into the needs of Brindley Associates’ clients. Joanne’s main responsibilities are client contact and business development as well as being lead consultant on large scale landscape projects.
Andy Macfarlane
Director Andy Macfarlane is an Environmental Scientist and has over 30 years of practical experience and professional qualifications in ecology, landscape science, town planning and environmental management. Andy’s working experience together with his interest in natural resource utilisation and biodiversity mean that he is well placed to advise clients on a wide range of subjects on the natural environment. Andy’s main responsibilities include protected species & habitat surveys, tree surveys, woodland management plans and landscape and visual impact assessments.
Jane Johnston
Jane Johnston was promoted to Assistant Landscape Architect in June following continued achievements and success and now holds greater responsibility and a project management role within the office. Jane continues to maintain her creative design, sustainability and graphic role whilst working towards her Chartership. She has particular recent experience in LVIA, masterplanning, public realm and detailed design.
Gwen Dowswell
Gwen Dowswell has recently completed her MA (Hons) in Landscape Architecture at Edinburgh College of Art and has returned to Brindley Associates having joined the practice in 2006 as a year out student.  Gwen’s role within the practice is design based, further developing our range of 3D modelling and visualisation skills.
 
Laura Wilkinson has recently joined the practice following completion of her Masters in Landscape Architecture at the University of Sheffield. Laura has experience in landscape design, management and ecology. 
Ross Wilkie
Ross Wilkie is a freelance Chartered Landscape Architect with additional qualifications in ecology and land management. He has over ten years of experience of a wide range of landscape design, management and assessment projects. Ross provides valuable assistance to the in house team, further expanding our range of expertise in areas such as renewable energy, visual assessment and ecological design.
Jo Simpson
To supplement the in house office administration Jo Simpson of JK Business Services Ltd provides Brindley Associates with business support. Jo’s role is to provide financial planning advice, personnel services including staff management, development and training programmes.
Nicola Bogle
Nicola Bogle is our Office Administrator who provides us with administration and credit control support as well as being involved in the promotion and marketing of the business. Nicola is usually the first point of contact when calling the office and is able to deal with most enquiries.
Fenella Duncan
Fenella Duncan is a Garden Designer and as well as running her own successful garden design business, The Garden Studio, she is a regular member of our team contributing to the more detailed, small-scale landscape designs that we become involved in such as school grounds, courtyard designs and show house gardens.

Consultants

In addition to the above team we also have excellent working relationships with other professionals and can draw on their expertise when required. For instance Brindley Associates use The Play Practice for play area design, Donald Rodger for additional help and advice on trees and woodlands, and Wild Surveys and Eden Ecology Ltd for bat and badger surveys.
